PETA are fucking crazy, and fucking stupid

PETA are launching a porn site. Read the HuffPo article here. Found via IBTP here. Everything I wanted to say about it has already been said in the comments thread, but I will high-light this:

So how pornographic will PETA go? According to Rajt, it will have enough adult content to qualify for the XXX domain site but also some other graphic images of animals that viewers may not expect to see.

Australia’s Herald Sun reports that “PETA’s sexy side displayed in galleries and videos will quickly give way to the sinister world of animal mistreatment uncovered by the group’s hidden camera investigations in a very different kind of graphic content.”

So they are going to juxtapose wank material with images of animal cruelty? And this is going to help how? As I’ve said previously, I really don’t think PETA’s tactics do anything to convert anyone to vegetarianism; previously they made meat sexy by comparing half-naked women to barbequed meat, now it sounds like they’re going to be inserting (no pun intended) stealth images of animal cruelty into pornography. How many men are going to bother to stop masturbating, or even be able to?

If you are supporting PETA financially now (or have done so in the past), please stop, and write to tell them why you are stopping. The only thing that will make PETA change is when they realise they are gaining attention at the expense of funding.
